Star appointed as chief creative officer for new mobile phone chain aimed at Latinos.
Jennifer Lopez, or J-Lo, as grammatically feckless types may refer to her, has joined forces with Verizon Wireless to launch Viva Movil – a new, Latino-centric chain of mobile phone stores in the US.
Leading the line on Viva Movil’s marketing front, Lopez has been appointed as the brand’s chief creative officer.
Viva Movil store staff will all be bilingual, with the brand promising customers a ‘culturally relevant experience’.
Speaking to the LA Times, Lopez commented: "It was a no-brainer to finally cater to an overlooked segment of the population that has emerged, to actually do something that caters specifically to them.”
The brand has already begun to sell smartphones, tablets and Verizon wireless plans on its website, with its first physical store due to open in New York on June 15th.
Lopez isn’t the first celeb to get in on some meaty mobile marketing action. Earlier this year Alicia Keys was announced as BlackBerry’s new creative director. We’re sure both stars will be working directly from their respective offices on a 9-5 basis…
