Arrives on shopping rails as 264 devices are reported as being stolen in the UK each day.
An American father recently designed an iPhone case that comes with pepper spray to protect against muggers, but British retailer Debenhams has opted for a more fashionable approach to stay safe from sticky-fingered bandits, which comes in the form of a gadget-concealing jacket.
It arrives as the number of phones stolen each day through muggings and pick-pocketing has risen by 25 per cent in three years, with 264 thefts reported each day over the first eight months of 2012.
The coat comes with a built-in waterproof sound system, music controls and hands-free set that connects to all mobile phones and MP3 players, all the while keeping the device hidden from sight.
Paul Baldwin, head of menswear buying, said: "We are thrilled to be offering such an innovative product to our customers. The range incorporates fashion, technology and practicality at a competitive price.
"It is the perfect, safety conscious way to conceal gadgets whilst still being able to freely use them in public, it’s the must have item for any commuter."
