Sony Ericsson aims to shake up the mobile imaging sector with its first Cyber-shot branded phone and a picture blogging partnership with Google.

The handset giant has unveiled the K800 and K790 Cyber-shot devices, each with 3.2 megapixel camera, autofocus, red-eye reduction and image stabiliser. Intriguingly they also feature the 'BestPic' function, which takes nine images with one key press, enabling the user to choose the best shot.

The partnership with Google pre-loads a blogging app so that, when a user clicks 'blog', the pic is uploaded to the Google blogger site. There's no set-up required: the first time a pic is uploaded it automatically creates the individual's own page.

SE clearly wants to 'do a Walkman' with Cyber-shot , bringing a badge of quality to its top range camera phone model and cementing the acceptance of the phone as a camera. Cyber-shot is the well-established brand that drives Sony's digital camera division.

The handset company has now sold 3m Walkman phones - and expects to drive this further. It also unveiled today its first pre-pay level clamshell Walkman the W300.
