New solution works across Symbian, Google Android, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and iPhone
Bango claims this is the first unified way to monetise all mobile applications internationally.
It says developers can use the service to collect one-time payments or start ongoing subscriptions within their app, using operator billing, credit cards or PayPal – whether via operator networks or wi-fi.
The system gives developers full control over when and how to charge the consumer, along with pricing and currency. They can also sell virtual goods and add-ons from within their app.
There's also an element of autonomy to the launch, as the Bango solution allows developers to sell directly to their customers, without having to rely on app stores as their channel to market.
Among the apps already using Bango Payment is the wildly popular Shazam mobile music discovery product.
“Converting browsers into buyers is the fundamental challenge for vendors trying to capture customers within app stores,” said Ray Anderson, CEO of Bango.
“Bango’s new in-app billing solution overcomes these issues by giving developers full control over the pricing and promotion of their applications.”
