Bugs vanquished
Augmented reality application Layar is back on the App Store, having (hopefully) conquered the bugs that saw it pulled from the store in late December.
The company announced the news on its blog:
"The new Layar Reality Browser has a re-engineered engine under the hood. This new engine makes the application light, stable and very quick. It is ready to handle all the current layers and it is a good base to realize all of our exciting future plans."
The iPhone version only works on iPhone 3GS handsets, due to its reliance on the device's internal compass.
The app also now has language support for French, German, Dutch and Italian, with more to follow in future releases.
The December removal was a setback for Layar, which was one of the most hotly-tipped augmented reality applications in 2009. The Android version was not affected by the bugs, though.
