Social music firm plans to expand its offering
Social music startup TuneWiki has raised $7 million in Series B funding, led by Motorola Ventures.
The company, which has music apps available for iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and Nokia handsets, also took cash from Intellect Capital Ventures, HillsVen Capital, Novel TMT and Benchmark Israel in the round.
TuneWiki's mobile apps are all about mixing streaming music with lyrics, displayed on-screen while the songs play.
The company is also working on a lyric-based music game, which it showed off at last month's MidemNet conference in Cannes.
The Motorola connection is interesting - could TuneWiki be heading for a preload deal with the handset arm of the company?
