Good news for Google in the mobile website chart too
Apple's iPhone was the most popular handset in the US this year, accounting for 4% of all mobile subscribers, according to The Nielsen Company.
It's just released charts for the top phones, sites and brands from January to October this year.
Second to iPhone was RIM's BlackBerry 8300 series with a 3.7% market share, followed by Motorola's RAZR V3 series (2.3%), LG's VX9100 (2.1%) and LG's Voyager (1.7%). Bear in mind that these are handsets in use, rather than handsets sold just this year.
Nielsen has also published a chart of the top ten websites accessed via mobile phones between January and September. Google Search tops the list, followed by Yahoo Mail, Gmail, Weather Channel, Facebook, MSN Hotmail, Google Maps, ESPN, AOL Email and CNN News.
However, Yahoo was the top 'brand accessed over mobile phones' in the same period, followed by Google, MSN/Windows Live/Bing, AOL, Weather Channel, Facebook, CNN Digital Network, Fox Interactive Media, ESPN and Apple.
And finally, Nielsen has tracked the top ten mobile video channels in the US in that period. YouTube tops the list, followed by Fox Interactive Media, Weather Channel, Comedy Central, CBS, ABC, MTV, NBC, ESPN and E!.
