The £6 a month service (after an initial free download) includes Sky Sports 1, 2 and 3, Sky Sports News, Sky Sports Extra, Sky News, At The Races and ESPN and can be accessed via Wi-Fi.
As an introductory offer O2 is offering three months free access to the app for the first 150,000 people to download it. There's no word yet on whether Orange and Vodafone will offer a similar deal.
Sky Mobile TV is already available across regular 3G handsets offered by Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone for £5 a month.
Sky general manager for mobile David Gibbs said: "In less than a year we've already seen millions of downloads of Sky's various iPhone apps. Now, by launching our new Sky Mobile TV app, we are able to combine the demand for great live TV on the move with the quality of experience offered through the iPhone and iTouch."
