Android, BlackBerry and Java developers getting free analytics and discounts on paid services
Mobile analytics firm Flurry has announced a partnership with T-Mobile USA to offer a co-branded version of its app analytics service for the operator's developer community.
The deal focuses on Android, BlackBerry and Java developers, who'll be able to use the free analytics tools to track how people use their apps. T-Mobile will get aggregated data too, which Flurry says it will use to improve the way it offers the apps to its users.
The developers could already get the tools for free from Flurry, as it doesn't charge for its basic analytics service. It has already signed up more than 5,000 developers and is tracking more than 200 million user sessions a month.
However, the T-Mobile Partner Network will also get a discount on the company's paid services, which are currently in beta.
“T-Mobile is committed to supporting its development community with resources and solutions to improve adoption and retention of their applications,” says T-Mobile USA's director of mobile applications and partner programs Venetia Espinoza.
“Flurry Analytics gives our developers behaviour and usability insights that increase product quality, and provides T-Mobile with data that can be used to evolve application merchandising and the storefront experience.”
Analytics are becoming an important tool for mobile app developers, and the deal is good for Flurry, which was one of the first analytics firms to look beyond iPhone to other mobile platforms.
It has also been regularly releasing topline data on user behaviour based on its network of developers – such as its recent study of how loyal users are to the different categories of iPhone app.
