Opera says 31.9 million people used its Mini browser in August, up 9.9 per cent from July and 147 per cent compared to August 2008.

That user base viewed 13.9 billion pages during the month, up 234 per cent from 12 months earlier.

Opera Mini users generated nearly 209 million MB of data for operators worldwide in August. Opera points out that the data is compressed by up to 90 per cent by its servers - if the data were uncompressed users would have downloaded 1.9 PB of data.

The top 10 countries for Opera Mini usage are (in descending order): Russia, Indonesia, India, China, Ukraine, South Africa, United States, Nigeria, United Kingdom and Poland.
