UK students compete in iPhone game contest

The Mobile Bullets project pits teams from two Lancashire Universities against each other

Over 50 entries were originally submitted to the contest, with one entry each from Lancaster University and the University of Central Lancashire now competing for the prize.

The final judging will take place tomorrow at UCLAN, with each team given 30 minutes to pitch their game to an expert panel.

Mobile Bullets is funded jointly by Preston City Council, LCDL, NWV & Media and UCLan. Further support is being offered in the way of equipment and mentoring by Business Link and Lancaster University.

The project is run in conjunction with Globi Games, Black Bull Studios and Shiny Development.

Mobile games vet Enda Carey, now Head of Games at Northwest Vision and Media, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting this collaborative project between UCLan and Lancaster University.

“It’s a great way of bridging the gap between full-time education and working in the industry. As well as gaining the skills, knowledge and experience they need to take their first step into a career in the industry, these students will have the opportunity to get their product direct to market.”
