Popular casual game continues to fly high on the App Store
Australian mobile games developer Firemint has announced that its Flight Control iPhone game has now sold more than 1.5 million copies.
It was only launched in March, so that's hugely impressive sales in six months. The game sells for 99 cents on the App Store, meaning it's generated more than $1 million for Firemint after Apple has taken its cut.
The game, which started as a side-project for Firemint CEO Robert Murray, has been updated since its launch with new levels, a two-player mode and social features, prolonging its popularity among iPhone gamers.
It has also spawned a legion of other games using its 'path-drawing' control mechanism.
Firemint says Flight Control is the first paid game to top 1.5 million downloads. However, the figures for some free games dwarf it: for example, Tapulous claims its Tap Tap Revenge game has been downloaded more than 11 million times.

In separate news, Firemint has announced that it is dropping the price of its Real Racing game this weekend, despite it being the only $9.99 'premium game in the App Store Top 100 chart.
