X series phones could replace catchy product names like the 6650 and 6500. God, we'll miss em
Nokia made a huge noise when it unveiled the N series smartphones in 2006, so it's a bit strange that the two X series phones, announced at Nokia World today, weren't more fussed over.
These two devices are both skinny music devices, but we're hearing that the X moniker could be more significant than the tag for phones than play songs.
Instead, a Nokia insider suggested that X could become the marque for all Nokia mid-range devices in future. That would herald the end of the much loved 6000 series.
Remember those classic names: the 6600? The 6350? Tripped off the tongue didn't they?
So evocative.
Like Proust's madeleines.
WTF!
Nokia just stole Sony ericssons Xperia branding?! That's really nice...
Worlds biggest mobile manufacturer couldn't come up with a letter of their own.
I am really impressed.. *sigh*
@Sony Ericsson
Nokia have had their Xpress music brand for year and before that it was Xpress Covers. So this X has long history in Nokia's trendy and hip phones.
And of course there is not so many alphabets and X is propably the coolest.
