Moblyng takes m:Poker to five platforms at once

Social games firm Moblyng is releasing its latest game for iPhone, Facebook, Android, Palm AND Nokia phones

The game, which is a multiplayer Texas Hold'em title, is launching initially on Android and Facebook, with the other platforms following soon.

Players on each different version will be able to bluff against friends on all the others. It's one of the first social games to launch on so many mobile devices within a short period: most focus just on Facebook and iPhone.

The company isn't just a games publisher, though. It's trying to sell its own technology to other developers looking to release these kinds of cross-platform games.

"Concurrently releasing m:Poker to five distinct operating environments validates the technology and efficiency of using the Moblyng Application Development Platform to create and launch cross-platform mobile social applications," says CEO Stewart Putney.

The game itself is free to download, although players can buy more poker chips in-game with real money. This micropayments model is common on Facebook, but may run into problems on iPhone, where Apple doesn't yet allow in-app payments for free games.
