Nokia sales down 25 per cent in Q2

Another tough quarter for the Finnish handset maker, which has revised 2H09 forecasts downward

Nokia has posted revenue of €9.9 billion for 2Q09, down 25 per cent year-on-year, but up seven per cent from Q1.

The company has also cut its 2H09 operating profit margin forecast for its handset unit to 11.3 per cent from 13-19 per cent previously.

Nokia has reiterated its belief that 2009 total industry mobile device volumes will fall 10 per cent from 2008 levels.

It now expects its own market share in mobile devices to be flat in 2009, compared with 2008. Nokia previously said its target was to increase its market share in mobile devices in 2009.

The company shipped 103.2 million units during the last quarter, down 15 per cent year-on-year and up 11 per cent sequentially.
