Image Semantics acquired by Mobispine

Swedish mobile software provider snaps up all shares for an undisclosed sum

Mobispine has confirmed its purchase of Fun Text and its parent company UK-based parent Image Semantics.

The deal was completed with a new issue of 11,579,000 Mobispine shares and is subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals.

Fun Text is a content-based mobile messaging service that has deals in place with Sprint, 3 UK and T-Mobile Germany/Netherlands/UK.

Mobispine will now include the Fun Text product in its portfolio of mobile messaging solutions.

Speaking to ME, Fun Text CEO Richard Harris said: "The deal is a perfect fit for both parties - we specialise in adding value to MMS, and Mobispine does the same for SMS. We are strong in Europe and the US, they are strong in the Far East and South America."

On that note, the Cambridge office inherited from Image Semantics contains four employees and will be the base of the combined company for new sales in the UK, Ireland and the US.

Fun Text's business development director James Pycock will perform the same role in the newly-merged company.

Future product development at Image Semantics will be carried out by staff at Mobispine's Romania office.
