BlackBerry users will be able to buy and download MP3 tracks over-the-air from September, thanks to UK firm 7Digital
The store will be distributed to users as an application via Research In Motion's BlackBerry App World.
The store will launch initially in seven countries: the UK, US, Canada, France, Italy, Germany and Spain. Single tracks are expected to cost 79p, while full albums will be £7.99.
According to the Financial Times, "most" tracks will be DRM-free, and the store will have a catalogue of more than six million songs to choose from.
7Digital CEO Ben Drury says there are no plans for a Comes With Music style unlimited music service for BlackBerry, though.
"We see the BlackBerry application as very much an impulse thing," he tells the FT. "You hear a song you like and can get it instantly."
The news is the latest confirmation of RIM's determination to make music more of a focus for BlackBerry handsets.
It's sponsoring the current U2 world tour - complete with a spin-off BlackBerry app - and has also worked with Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.I.Am on his Dipdive app.
It's not been confirmed yet whether 7Digital's deal with RIM is exclusive, or if rival digital music stores will be allowed onto BlackBerry App World.
