Its report also showed Nokia making up 39 per cent of users' handsets, Samsung with 33 per cent and iPhone with just 0.06 per cent.
South Africa is widely perceived to be an advanced territory in mobile VAS. These new figures will add more evidence to the argument.
MKhoj argues that South Africa has difference that make it ripe for mobile advertisers: It has 11 officially recognised languages, and many more unofficial ones, plus over 100 per cent penetration - all of which plays into the hands of marketers with advanced targeting tools.
“We believe these results reinforce our partners’ confidence in our value to provide the best results through intelligent mobile web advertising solutions,” said Naveen Tewari, CEO of mKhoj. “We’re proud to be recognized as the leading mobile advertising network in South Africa.”
