India's Wipro snaps up DVB-H unit as Nokia looks to focus on consumer software solutions
Reuters carries news of the sale, the terms of which have not been publicly disclosed.
According to the report, Nokia's enterprise mobile TV unit - which provided the back-end nuts and bolts required to enable handsets to access DVB-H broadcast services - employed 40 people.
A Nokia spokesperson said the sale was made as the company wants to focus on mobile TV solutions for the consumer market going forward.
Wipro (Western India Products) provides a broad range of IT services and no doubt has an eye on the expected 3G boom in the country as a means of deploying video services.
