Editorially the new look site - thesun.mobi - focuses on news, sports and showbiz, and allows users to rate and send stories to friends.

The Sun's owner News International says mobile investment will continue across other titles in the coming months - the company also owns The Times and News of the World.

James Davis, News International’s Commercial Business Partner, said: "We’ve seen massive growth in traffic across all our mobile sites in the final part of 2008 and although we’re proud of the work to date, we had the opportunity to take The Sun’s mobile experience to the next level.

“The enhanced site focuses on The Sun’s core strength – its editorial, by providing users with intuitive access to the latest breaking stories.  We’ve retained key sections of the site, added interactive elements and enhanced the browsing experience.”
