Fox restructures mobile operations

Three distinct units created for content distribution, content licensing and content production

News Corp-owned 20th Century Fox has restructured its mobile operation, with the newly-created Fox Mobile Group to House Fox Mobile Distribution, Fox Mobile Entertainment and Fox Mobile Studios.

Fox Mobile Group will be led by Mauro Montanaro, who was named chief executive officer of direct-to-consumer content unit Jamba earlier this year.

The news follows Fox parent News Corp's deal two weeks ago to buy the 49 per cent of Jamba it didn't already own from VeriSign for $200 million.

Jamba (Fox Mobile Group’s consumer mobile content distribution brand in Europe) and Jamster (US, UK, Canada, Russia, Asia-Pacific) will continue to operate as normal as part of the new Fox Mobile Distribution unit.

Fox Mobile Entertainment will continue to focus on licensing content on behalf of Fox Entertainment Group to third parties for mobile delivery and usage.

Meanwhile, Fox Mobile Studios unit will develop original mobile content.

The company has also expanded in Asia and opened an office in Singapore to serve as home base for local Fox Mobile Distribution and Fox Mobile Studios initiatives.
