Scalado to double workforce

Imaging specialist expands to meet demand for cool cameraphone software.
Scalado says the expansion will be completed by year-end as a result of successful product launches, which have seen the Swedish firm adding two Tier 1 cameraphone OEMs to its licensees, and the recent signing of a major agreement with Symbian.
It consequently added to its business development, engineering, and customer support teams. It estimates more than double revenues 2008 compared to 2007. Scalado also expanded geographically, launching a new operation in Korea.
Scalado's CAPS imaging SDK is now being used in 200 million mobile handsets.
The company currently has its software embedded in more than 50 different camera phone models.
“Even in this difficult economic climate, Scalado is continuing to expand on a global scale,” said Mats Jacobson, CEO of Scalado. “With many manufacturers now offering five, six, seven and even eight megapixels on their camera phones, the need for fast, powerful, memory-efficient image processing software is greater than ever.”
