Details have been leaked of a RIM App Store and a new touchscreen Blackberry called the Storm.
A report leaked by the Boygenius web site says RIM will take on the Apple App Store and the Android Market with its own ‘BlackBerry Apps Center’. The store is set to go live when the BlackBerry Storm hits the market.
Although RIM already supports content storefronts with embedded links in its devices, but the Apps Center will showcase content not vetted by RIM.
Instead, the content will be pushed by the operator. It will be accessible from the browser rather than a pre-installed client.
The Storm device should hot up competition in the touchscreen space. It will be RIM’s first such device and will ship with built-in GPS, media player, landscape mode, and video recording.
