Ernie Els Golf coming to operator decks globally as THQ takes on Player One's sports games.
The games will be taken from the Player One Sports label, a subsidiary of Player One established in 2006 to handle premium sports IP in the mobile space, encompassing games, video and personalisation content.
Among the Java and BREW titles included as part of the deal are Pool Star – Atlantic City, Phil Taylor’s Power Darts 2008, Pokermillion – The Masters, Tribal Baseball, Ronnie O’Sullivan Snooker, Freddie Flintoff’s Powerplay Cricket and the newly-signed Ernie Els Golf.
THQ Wireless will handle distribution of the games with all operators outside Player One's existing direct deals.
It's been a busy 12 months for Player One, which inked a long-term licensing deal with Matchroom Sport last November and in February secured an exclusive global content deal with the Professional Darts Corporation.
Pete Russell, Player One’s managing director, said: “Working with THQ Wireless’ top-tier global distribution expertise represents a significant opportunity to grow the mobile audience for Player One Sports’ games."
Adam Comiskey, VP of THQ Wireless, added: “Player One Sports’ games on mobile have always been critically acclaimed and equally loved by mobile consumers everywhere. THQ Wireless is delighted to be able to offer this exceptional portfolio of unique games to carriers worldwide."
