Updated hardware edges Nintendo into the portable multimedia space.

Reports from the official press conference suggest Nintendo's new DSi console, which ME sister site MCV yesterday exclusively confirmed, will have a built in web browser and the ability to download software over wi-fi using 'Nintendo Points' currency.

The design is similar in design to the DS Lite, but features two cameras, larger screens, improved speakers, and an SD memory card slot.

The machine is also 12 per cent thinner than the DS Lite. The SD memory card slot will also allow gamers to take images with the handheld and view them on Nintendo’s Wii console.
