Star Wars fans rejoice! The free app that turns an ordinary iPhone into a Sith-fighting lightsaber is back after a short hiatus.
Originally released as a free app called PhoneSaber, the product disappeared from the App Store shelves having notched a million downloads after the folks at Lucas pointed out that it infringed on any number of copyrights.
That's not a problem, it's an opportunity, said THQ Wireless, which already has a load of official Star Wars mobile games in its catalogue - including latest release Force Unleashed.
The publisher got in touch with creators Duncan and Alex (third year MA Philosophy and BEng Software Engineering students) and inked a Lucas-blessed publishing deal.
It has also added a few bells and whistles to the app, which is now known as Lightsaber Unleashed and available once again from App Store.
When asked if they had any advice for aspiring students/young developers, Duncan and Alex replied in unison: ”Don't assume that an idea wont work, and be passionate. Make stuff for the iPhone - it's an incredible platform to develop for.”
Apple's force is certainly with them.
