handset, hardware, touchscreenNokia Touchscreen could be launched next week

Nokia is expected to unveil its big touchscreen phone at a UK event on October 2nd.

Our sources stayed tight-lipped on specifics, but the device may well be the much-discussed Nokia Tube, which has been written about extensively since details were revealed at a developer conference in April.

Or it could be something completely new. Either way, the Tube was also product placed in The Dark Knight movie this summer (pictured).

A teaser video of Nokia’s touchscreen user interface was first shown to the trade this time last year.

The UI possesses many of the attributes of the iPhone, including a screen that re-orients itself as portrait or landscape depending on how it’s held by the user.

Next week’s event will be massive, celebrating the formal arrival of Nokia’s Comes With Music project and launching a number of new handsets.

Now, NOW we shall see how the iPod fairs against a real phone. I bet it's lovely and I shall be buying one as soon as ever I can because Nokia = great.

Errrm...Nokia S60 based handsets have been doing this for ages (long before iPhone too incidentally).

Does anyone known what, when, where this "UK event on October 2nd" is?
