MobiTV inks Media Excel partnership

Companies team up to offer video transcoding and streaming solution.
MobiTV and Media Excel have inked a partnership that will see them jointly offer mobile and fixed line content providers an integrated transcoding/video streaming solution.
The technology will work across 3G, 4G and broadband networks and essentially combines MobiTV’s Optimized Delivery Server (ODS) with Media Excel’s video encoding and transcoding knowhow.
MobiTV, which claims four million subscribers to its mobile TV services, last week moved back into Europe with its ODS platform.
Bruce Gilpin, COO, MobiTV, said: “Many of our customers are looking to us to provide broadcast quality, high availability IP video systems for new mobile and broadband video networks and we want to shorten the time to market for these services by integrating industry leading transcoding technologies, that will enable the rapid delivery of a complete IP video solution."
