Beeb promotes DVDs via mobile

BBC Worldwide has created its first mobile web storefront to promote DVDs like Doctor Who.
Its exclusive licensee 2 entertain has worked with mobile marketing agency New Visions to create the portal, which will offer download preview clips of big titles.
“We’ve been considering mobile for some time,” said Stuart Snaith, MD at 2 entertain, “and this will be a good test for us in the market. We see mobile as a huge opportunity for customers to pre-order our products, so the next phase will be to offer customers the opportunity to purchase our releases via mobile.”
“Our platform has been used to sell non-digital goods for some time,” said Julia McNally, sales director for New Visions, “but this is the first time we’ve provided a mobile storefront dedicated to the sale of non-digital merchandise. This initiative once again shows that mobile is rapidly becoming a key part of the marketing mix.”
