O2's 'no' to the N96

O2 UK will not stock the Nokia N96, which is expected to be the top-selling smartphone of the year.
According to Mobile Today, the operator has allocated the majority of its subsidy budget to the Apple 3G iPhone, leaving it unwilling to subsidise the premium Nokia device.
Rumours say that O2 will lose its iPhone exclusivity unless it hits targets.
The N96 is scheduled for October 1st. Historically, O2 has supported Nokia – it was one of the first to range Nseries devices that connected to Ovi services when other operators were refraining from doing so.
That said, at present there are no Nseries handsets available on the operator’s 12-month contracts.
