Remaining employees reportedly start new smartphone app development studio.
MobileGamesBlog says it has seen documents that confirm mobile app porting specialist Tira Wireless has closed its doors.
The report says the Canadian company stopped trading at the behest of its board of directors on August 24th.
Some employees are already thought to have set up a smartphone content development studio in the form of Five Mobile.
Update: We have since been contacted by Five Mobile to say it was indeed founded by ex-Tira employees, along with confirmation that it has no affiliation with Tira.
We've still been unable to get hold of Tira for comment.
Tira originally carved a niche for itself by providing the mobile games industry with an automated method of making sure Java content worked across the hundreds of different handsets in the market.
More recently it sought to move from a service to a software licensing model, in addition to addressing the broader mobile content market outside of games and Java.
The company had been looking to sell some or all of its business for some time, and earlier this year began offering its extensive device schematics database as a standalone product.
It has also faced increased competition from nimble newcomers like Mobile Distillery.
Ironically, Tira appears to have closed its doors as mobile development platforms are becoming more disperate than ever before.
