Another day, another prediction of windfall mobile advertising revenues.
This time it’s from Gartner, which forecasts the global market will be worth over $12 billion by 2011. But it warns that operators face competition from search giants, handset vendors and others in the chase for the cash. Gartner also advises pursuing all available channels – SMS, MMS, email, search, IPTV etc – and avoiding spam.
"Carriers need to disrupt the current distribution of advertising money between competing media channels and convince advertisers and marketers that their various channels, customer knowledge, analytics and network control features can reach the intended audience more effectively than traditional channels,” said the release.

That's right. No need to revise all those projections after all.
