O2's ongoing iPhone shortage

UK operator still has no online stock, with only a few retail stores carrying Apple's device.
O2 has updated a note on its website saying that 'unprecedented demand' means its online store and call centres are out of stock.
It says as of today there is limited iPhone 3G availability in its High Street stores (a situation O2 says will continue for 'some weeks') though it's working with Apple to secure additional stock, with more due 'this week'.
The company stresses that 'for the foreseeable future' the only place for new customers to purchase the device will be in person at an O2 Retail, Carphone Warehouse or Apple store.
O2 says it remains 'confident that all customers who want iPhone 3G will get one by the end of this summer'.
