ROK has signed a deal with Rotana to take it into the Arabic music and film market.
The company’s Finland-based development company, Geniem, will build customised on-device portals for Rotana’s mobile partners to be deployed across the Middle East. These ODPs will link seamlessly to its diverse content portfolio.
Rotana is owned by Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and is among the region’s largest Arabic entertainment companies, producing and distributing the latest music and films worldwide on channels including mobile. Its repertoire includes more than 2000 Arabic movies ranging from classics to recent blockbusters, plus music rights to stars such as Amr Diab, Mohammed Abdou, Kazem Al Saher and Elissa.
"Our mobile distribution strategy relies on Geniem’s state-of-the-art ODP technology, bringing the best entertainment to the mobile by offering music, video clips and games, through browse, taste and buy experience", said Yousef Mugharbil, president of digital media at Rotana.
