The firm’s MD Eric Hobson, speaking to ME, said he believes the industry is entering a period of genuine convergence across mobile, TV and web. However, he asserts that creative mobile companies should not confine themselves to bidding for existing rights, but should use their talents to generate IP in the first place.

That’s why he went to TV expo MIP earlier this year with an original gaming concept with the aim of making it a TV show. That idea is now in development. He said: “Maybe we were a little naïve, but we actually found it quite easy to get in front of senior TV commissioners. There’s a genuine interest from broadcasters in the kind of converged properties we can develop.”

Hobson was setting out his vision on the day that Connect 2 Media announced it would take on Hands-On Mobile’s EMEA business. Connect 2 is backed by London-based venture capital firm Acuity Capital, and has also secured funding from Hands-On.
