Social network Bebo has hired Sean Kane as its global head of mobile.
It’s a signal of intent from the company, which has 45 million plus users worldwide and is not far behind the big duo of MySpace and Facebook. Kane joins from the social networking platform provider Intercasting Corporation. In February 2008, Bebo partnered with Intercasting to give users the means to share content via the latter’s Anthem platform.
In recent months, Bebo has also partnered with Orange UK, T-Mobile UK and O2 Ireland to mobilise its service.
Ziv Navoth, SVP of marketing and biz dev at Bebo, said: “Sean has an impressive background in building businesses and in the delivery of mobile platforms. We feel confident that he will enable Bebo to deliver the best ’social mobile’ experience on the web to our users, who increasingly are logging on from their mobile phones to consume, create, discover and share great content.”
