Celltick will provide Olympics-related content to China Unicom users' idle screens.
The firm will embed its LiveScreen Media application on China Unicom SIM cards being distributed in retail outlets around Beijing. The service will be available in both Chinese and English, with content sourced from news agency Xinhua, and comprising results, anecdotes, games and applications.
Stephen Dunford, CEO of Celltick, said: “The Olympic Games represents an enormous opportunity for the mobile industry and our managed LiveScreen Media application is ideally positioned to help China Unicom capitalise on its full potential.
LiveScreen is designed to give operators a means to non-intrusively deliver content and advertising to the idle screens of mobile users. This deployment will be the first in a series across China. China Unicom has over 180 million mobile subscribers nationwide.
