Virgin Mobile has launched a ‘Festival Buddy’ app for its V Festival music event.

Virgin Mobile has launched a ‘Festival Buddy’ for its V Festival music event.

The application allows festival goers on any UK network to find line-up information, create a personal schedule, find site-specific information, and download free V Festival related content including ringtones, wallpapers and videos. They text a shortcode to get the download.

Paul Shulver, music sponsorship manager for Virgin Mobile, said: “The Festival Buddy will be modified for both V Festival sites, with opening times, maps, traffic, line-up information, safety information and free downloads, offering the chance for V Festival attendees to completely tailor-make their festival experience.”

“How to download this ....”

I'm not sure why this article didn't mention it, but to download this app Text Buddy to 80310.
It's a lot simpler than the Glasto app done by Orange recently but its got what you need and didn't crash my phone like the Glasto one did.

“My views”

I'm a little bit concerned about the terms & conditions. When I go to download it, it says that I give permission for the Virgin Media group to send me info on V and music services. In the detail of the T's & C's it says that my information won't be used by any further marketing? So which is it? Virgin Media is huge, and am not very confident they won't misuse my personal details, especially if they can't be consistent in their terms & conditions.
I'm also curious if there's any charge on texting Freebies to 26666, as if there is, it's not exactly free is it?
Also, do they REALLY need their logo to cover half the screen? I get it, it's sponsored by Virgin, enough already.
And unsure how useful the map's going to be, not very detailed.
I look forwards to seeing how the lineup will be implemented (not operational yet)

I agree with the comments above, Virgin seem to be very keen to get users data these days but not so keen as to explain why they want it > plus when is it actually going to work!> only got half an app at the moment!?
