Belegured handset maker makes investors happy by stealing Qualcomm's COO.
Motorola appears ready for the year of divestment ahead after confirming the appointment of Sanjay Jha as the new CEO of its handset business.
Jha was previously the COO at chipset giant Qualcomm and will also be co-CEO of the overall Motorola company, working with the incumbent Greg Brown.
Brown said of the appointment: "We got the best candidate available and I am confident Motorola is on its way back.”
Jha will now be tasked with further stabilising Moto's handset division before it is spun-off as planned next year.
The company has shown improved performance is recent quarters, having suffered from relying far too long on dated brands such as the Razr.
