Irish company urges fellow aggregators to support the UK clampdown on ‘rogue’ D2C content companies.

Zamano has thrown it weight behind moves by UK watchdog PhonePayPlus and a wider initiative by the European Commission to eradicate bad practice in the mobile content industry.

Declan Pettit, UK country manager of Zamano, said: “As with any communications network providing an open channel between content companies and consumers, there is potential for misuse. Zamano takes a great deal of care to minimise consumer harm.

“We believe the mobile content industry can only fulfill its true potential when consumers have complete confidence in the quality and value for money of services they consume on their mobile. Working in complete alignment with regulation is the only way for the industry to achieve this.”

On July 17th PhonePlayPlus confirmed that any company not allowing customers to stop a mobile content subscription quickly and easily will be barred from operation with immediate effect.

On the same day the EC announced it would be taking action after it found 80 per cent of 500 websites offering mobile content that it had examined across the continent breached regulations.

“Beware Zamano Rip-off”
Posted by: James Ryan - Aug 15, 10:46am

Huh! Zamano are part of the great Rip-off and refuse to cummunicate with customers who have been ripped off. And isn't it time we stopped pussy-footing around and start using real language. I was robbed. My phone bill had charges added to it and the money given to zamano even though I had never requested any service from them. My money was stolen.
