Mobile social networking specialist lifts lid on latest member survey
Singapore-based BuzzCity has revealed the results of research conducted among 1,000 users of its global mobile portal, myGamma.
Fifty-one per cent of respondents said they would use their mobile phone for financial services, and a third would like to be able to transfer money.
More than half of those surveyed had made electronic purchases with one in five having purchased item using their mobile phone. Twelve per cent of users also expressed a strong interest in buying cinema and travel tickets via mobile.
Overall, the most demanded service was for money transfer and remittances, with 37 per cent requesting access to these services.
A further group of respondents would like to use their mobiles for enhanced banking services such as share trading and foreign exchange.

Buzz City says it hopes the research will provide advertisers with the information they need to develop relevant WAP sites as well as products, services and promotions.
KF Lai, CEO of BuzzCity said: “Consumers want more news, information and search capability via the mobile internet. There is definite demand for more content and not just entertainment content. Users want access to practical information, such as classified ads for jobs or property.”
