Windows crack for first-gen iPhone’s running 2.0 firmware goes live
Whilst the 3G iPhone was hacked just hours after it was officially unleashed upon the world, the process has until now been quite tough for those without access to a Mac – but now internet hackers have bridged even that barrier.
The internet is alive this morning with news that an update to an existing piece of iPhone hacking software has been updated to allow owners of first-gen iPhones to upgrade to the 3G machine’s 2.0 firmware and then ‘jailbreak’ the device – effectively meaning the running of homebrew applications is enabled.
Alongside ‘jailbreaking’, another common practice on iPhone is unlocking the device so it can be used on other networks – this is typically done by either a software hack or the insertion of a physical dual-sim device.
