UK social network Next2Friends is targeting overseas expansion from its New York office.
The newly opened US base is located in Manhattan to take advantage of proximity to the district’s advertising financial services companies. It’s being headed by Rachel Wilde, formerly of T-Mobile USA. The firm’s next destination will be Asia.
Next2Friends has also confirmed that Roy Shelton has joined as CEO. He brings with him over two decades of technology and telecom business expertise from tenures with Prime Carrier, Azure Solutions and Cerebrus.
He said: “The Next2Friends business model is an obvious winner. With such a comprehensive range of services for businesses and consumers alike, and the incredible groundswell of early interest and support, ramping up and extending our global reach is going to be both fast and fulfilling.
We’re already getting excellent feedback from major players in the industry and exciting times lie ahead for us all.”
Next2Friends launched version 1.0 of its ‘Live’ application in June. It supports chat, messaging, blogging and email, but its real USP is its one-click real-time streaming from mobile devices to the mobile and static web. Users can choose to stream both via either public or private communities.
