Apple raked in a quite impressive $330 million from iPhone 3G during its first weekend on sale, according to calculations by Forbes.

In true exam paper style, the article shows its workings, pulling in sales data from Apple, third party information on iPhone 3G build cost and analyst estimates.

The result? Apple is thought to have sold 333,333 8GB iPhone 3G's at $274.67 profit each, amounting to $91,556,000, and 666,666 16GB models at $358.67 profit each for a grand profit total of $330,669,000.
