Mobile apps developers threaten to down tools because of, well, bad tools

Google is taking it the neck from the development community over its decision to let only a lucky few get their hands on the latest SDK for its Android mobile OS, reports The Register.

Apparently the last public release of the SDK was way back in March - Google is only giving its latest de-bugged tools to the 50 finalists in the $10 million Android Developer Challenge.

AndDev.org's Nicolas Gramlich, told The Register: "Keeping 95 per cent of the developers in the dark was a really bad decision, as not only the 50 apps made by the ADC winners will contribute to the success of the whole platform."

The jury is still out on whether Android-powered devices will be available commercially (via T-Mobile USA) before the end of the year as Google hoped.
