US-based PlayPhone will offer a WAP billing option to its customers using a system from Ericsson IPX.

With WAP billing, a subscriber clicks on a link, agrees to purchase and downloads mobile content without ever having to send or receive a text message like with premium SMS-based payment offerings.

The system will be integrated into PlayPhone’s current US WAP destinations and offerings that are accessible at m.playphone.com.

PlayPhone's US content partners include Sony BMG, EMI, Cartoon Network, SEGA, Bandai, Disney, Glu Mobile, Konami, Vivendi Universal, Sony Pictures and ABC Television.
