Operator confirms deal to offer mobile web browser to customer base
Swisscom has selected the Opera Mini web browser to deliver what it calls 'a better web experience' to customers.
The software, which allows mobile users to access a transcoded version of the internet, will be available to download from its portal in the near future.
The browser uses compression technology to reduce the amount of data that users need to download, in theory meaning that content can be delivered faster and more cost efficiently.
Thomas Hüter, head of internet experience at Swisscom, said: “Opera Mini has proven its value to millions of users all over the world, and we want to offer our customers a great mobile browsing experience.”
