Apple shifts one million iPhone 3Gs

Milestone passed in first weekend of availability across 21 countries.
Apple has confirmed it sold one million iPhone 3G's over the weekend.
In a short statement issued today Apple CEO Steve Jobs said: “iPhone 3G had a stunning opening weekend. It took 74 days to sell the first one million original iPhones, so the new iPhone 3G is clearly off to a great start around the world.”
iPhone 3G went on sale in the UK last Friday (July 11th), with demand such that police had to be called in to help close Apple's flagship London store following a computer failure.
The one millionth device was sold sometime on Sunday.
iPhone 3G is now available in 21 countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and the US.
It will go on sale in France on July 17th.
