The company served 51.8m iPhone ads in globally in June - 32 per cent up from 39.1m in May.

Mobile advertising specialist AdMob has served 259 million ads to Apple iPhone users since it began doing so in July 2007.

Major advertisers that have run iPhone ads exclusively with AdMob include Land Rover, Jaguar and Fox.

The most iPhone ad traffic has come from the following countries: US (34m impressions), Philippines (2m), UK (1.9m), France (1.8m) and Canada (1.7m).  

AdMob says popular features of the iPhone ads it serves include a store locator with integration of Google maps, and 'click to call' and 'click to play video' functionality.

AdMob CEO Omar Hamoui said: "The usage patterns on next generation devices are terrifically exciting - we served nearly a quarter-billion ads on the iPhone in its first year in the market.  We expect that the iPhone and devices like it will be an enormous catalyst for the mobile media business."
