300m mobile subs in Africa

Africa has passed 300 million mobile subscribers and a penetration rate approaching 30 per cent.
The figure comes from Vodafone’s in-house online mag Receiver, which goes on the describe the imaginative ways in which Africans are using mobile devices.
Apparently, Ugandans hook up bikes, known locally as boda bodas, with spare batteries to create what they call ‘Bodafones’.
